I came across a poem the other day while shopping in a mall. It is a common phrase that I have often used with my loved ones. "Love you more!" But this poem dug deeper, to a profound definition of a love we feel for a spouse, child, family member, or friend. It struck me and has had me pondering it ever since.
Love You More -
When I say I love you more,
I don't mean I love you more than you love me.
I mean
I love you more than - the bad days ahead of us,
I love you more than - any fight we will ever have.
I love you more than - the distance between us,
I love you more than - any obstacle that could try and come between us.
I love you the most.

This has challenged me to think deeper about the words I use with my loved ones. What does love you more mean? Will they know that when I say, "I love you more" it a love that will transcend: the bad days ahead, any fight, the distance between, any obstacle? This kind of love takes immense work - when I say these words will my actions reflect this unconditional love that will surpass the trials that lie ahead. Can I look my loved one in the eye in the midst of an argument and say I Love you - the emotions may be heightened but, I love them, period through thick and thin.
Oooof, this is a tricky one for me, I am an emotional gal, and I will be straight up - love can be the very LAST word I want to use in times of trial. But this poem has inspired me to remember at all times that love is deeper than emotion and love you more will see it through.
Do you Love more? How will you Love more?
Let's Love well together my friends - it's a beautiful gift.
